Project E3 worked with 12 selected communities. These targeted communities received long-term, on-site Intensive Technical Assistance. The technical assistance focused on improving employment and community integration of persons with disabilities from VR-eligible, economically disadvantaged targeted populations.
Project E3 focused on the following goals:
- Implement comprehensive support services to increase VR participation rates of individuals living in Targeted Communities by addressing systemic barriers such as poverty, homelessness, food insecurity, safety concerns, interpersonal and family issues, language barriers, and lack of transportation and childcare.
- Expand and strengthen community partnerships with local social service and community development agencies, correctional facilities, community rehabilitation programs (CRPs), school systems, employers, community leaders, and other relevant stakeholders;
- Increase, identify, and expand needed services for people from economically disadvantaged targeted populations who are eligible for VR services.
Following are summaries of each of the targeted communities that worked with Project E3.
